We are a group of individuals made up of the organisation’s committee of six, a number of advisors (including lawyers, planners and fundraisers) and many supporters (both individuals and organisations) who work together to ensure that planning in Scotland is fair and accountable. We meet every 6 weeks and work on different projects that we feel are the most important to help realise our aims.
If you are interested in democracy, justice, the environment or planning, you might be interested in joining us.
We are looking for people who are willing to donate their time and energy to us to help us complete several projects which involve film making, networking, research, advocacy, lobbying and communicating our message. The sorts of people we are looking for would help us with web-based research, talk to people who have had planning problems and document their stories, write blogs or reports, come up with creative ideas, be good at networking and public speaking.
What we can offer you
Training opportunities: We think training and support for our volunteers is really important. Some of the training we have done is in charity governance, fundraising, social media, book keeping and public speaking to mention a few.
Learning opportunities: You will develop an understanding of some fairly hard core topics such as how the land use planning system in Scotland works, legal issues around Aarhus and European law.
Experience in campaigning and advocacy: Our campaign work involves holding meetings, promoting our manifesto, direct political lobbying, and responding to consultations. Our advocacy work includes media campaigns, public speaking, commissioning and publishing research.
Opportunity to travel in Scotland and meet new people (we have met hundreds!). For example last year we held a great conference which allowed people to network and meet like-minded people.
