Clare Symonds our chair gave evidence in Parliament today at the Local Government Housing and Planning Committee. Watch it here
For our input you can go straight to 9.26 and 9.55 for most of what Clare said.
We hope you feel that your views and experiences of planning were highlighted and we managed to put some positive suggestions forward to try and alleviate the difficulties.
We talked about:
better resourcing of planning and related services such as local authority ecologists,
poor enforcement and how more enforcement officers are required to ensure conditions are properly enforced
issues housing land supply and the unnecessary complexity of this area of policy suiting volume house builders and their lawyers more than communities
Equal Rights of Appeal for communities for decisions that run contrary to Local Place Plans
support for public led planning to diversify and democratise the way we do housing, making it more targeted and efficient enabling
the purpose of planning to be about delivering wellbeing not economic growth
and lots more!
